Adipex and alcohol

In Adipex and alcohol interaction, side effects may get worse. Therefore, during the entire period of anti-obesity drug therapy, patients should refrain from alcohol.

Alcohol provokes side effects of Adipex due to several reasons. The common reason is that alcohol (just like Adipex) affects the functions of the central nervous system.

Because of synergistic effect of alcohol and Adipex on the CNS, the risk of headache, insomnia, irritation and psychosis increases. The severity of these CNS side effects depends on the quantities of alcohol consumed and the dosage of Adipex.

Besides the fact that alcohol affects the CNS, it can increase the blood pressure and cause hypertension. Hypertension is one of side effects of Adipex. Therefore, when using Adipex and alcohol, the risk of this cardiovascular side effect increases.

It should be noted that Adipex is contraindicated for patients with uncontrolled, moderate and severe hypertension. Hence, before starting to use Adipex 37.5mg tabs or caps, you need to make sure the obesity is not complicated by a cardiovascular pathology.

• If an overweight patient was diagnosed controlled hypertension, he should use Adipex 37.5 mg caps or tabs with caution!

Alcohol may cause cardiovascular and psychiatric side effects of Adipex, as well as reduce the effectiveness of anti-obesity treatment. Many obese patients notice high appetite after consumption of alcoholic beverages. Therefore, even if Adipex provides a strong anorexigenic effect, the amount of consumed calories can rise significantly after drinking alcohol.

Patients, who suffer from hepatic insufficiency due to alcohol overuse, should be very careful with this medication. Adipex may cause nephrotoxic effect and affect the renal function. Thus, a regular monitoring of kidney function is recommended for patients with history of alcoholism during the entire period of using Adipex.

If severe side effects occur after the use of Adipex 37.5mg pills and alcohol, a patient should tell his doctor about this. Once the doctor decides that these side effects are not potentially dangerous for health of a patient, a short-term drug therapy of obesity can be continued.
